Recommendations for use of CSS styles

Novice is difficult to get used immediately in a variety of different styles of CSS - a style and when to apply. To make things easier, acquaint the reader with the general recommendations for the use of styles CSS.

First, we should highlight the design rules that will apply to the throughout the site and its individual elements, to determine the general form of a website: the font, paragraph, header, background color, text alignment, size of the indentation, etc. .d. Developed rules are converted to common styles (most of this override tags) are placed in an external style sheet. This style sheet is called the global and applies to all html-pages of the site.

After that defines the rules of registration individual elements html-pages (most of the style is combined classes and styles): the font settings of individual paragraphs, fragments thereof, the parameters of hyperlinks and other elements. These rules should be complementary to the global, but not to block them completely to avoid "burdening" the size of CSS-style sheet code. If the style was very much, they can be made into a separate table, which will be attached only to the html-pages, where it will be needed.

The third step is to define the rules that apply only to the one element html-pages (usually the named styles) Options navigation bars, site header, various containers, which determine the design of the site. These rules are made by analogy with the rules of registration of individual elements of html-pages.

At the last stage, the rules that apply to the limited number of elements , which are found in separate html-pages. At this stage, it is described very specific styles that are placed in a global table or the secondary stylesheet.

Internal style sheets are not recommended because they do not meet the concept of Web 2.0 .
